Octopi For Preemies
Fairview Hospital NICU
The use of crochet octopus was first used in Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Denmark in 2013 under the name “Octo Project”. These crochet octopi were made with tentacles that were meant to resemble the umbilical cord. Through anecdotal stories, the use of these octopi is believed to help neonates regulate vital signs, as seen through observation of vital signs by staff.

Isolate Baby Blankets
Fairview Hospital NICU
Yarn Over Cleveland contributes a generous amount of baby blankets to cover NICU isolates at Fairview Hospital each year. We donate to Fairview Hospital because they have an accepting program in our area with standards and guidelines our group can follow as well as a large level III, 26-bed, state-of-the-art unit with nurses trained in every aspect of neonatal care.
A lot of patients require a lot of resources. We are here for them!

“Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Coronary ICU cares for the most critical and sick patients in the enterprise and see, at times, the most deaths. We are often people’s 2nd, 3rd or 4th opinions. We receive patients that have heart attacks, post-arrest, deadly rhythm disorders, and heart failure. Being how sick our unit is, far too often, there are times we cannot do much to change the health trajectory. We found this as a way for us to provide comfort and caring in the hardest of times for patients, their loved ones and the staff. Girls A.L.I.V.E. (Awareness, Love, Inclusion, Voice, Empowerment) is a safe, affirming space where girls in North Carolina (ages 10-18) with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other neurodiverse experiences can be seen, celebrated, and supported. From social meetups and creative workshops to mental wellness sessions and guest speakers, every gift directly funds life-enriching programs that foster connection, self-expression, and belonging.

The Hitchcock Center for Women is a full-service rehabilitation center with inpatient and outpatient programs, providing addiction treatment and sober housing for underserved women. Unique in the nation, we welcome moms and their kids into our care. Our safe and modern programs clear a path to a better future for our clients and community.
