About Us

Yarn Over Cleveland was born from a passion for fiber arts and a dream of building community. In the fall of 2022, Jessica, our founder, came across a Facebook post on a local community page inviting knitters and crocheters to gather at the Rocky River Library. Until then, she had never imagined that people actually met up to stitch together. Crocheting and knitting had always seemed like solitary hobbies, so the idea of creating alongside others was exciting and completely new. When she attended her first meeting, she discovered that this group had already been thriving for 18 years under the leadership of Donna Wetherill, who continues to lead the original Rocky River gathering today. As conversations grew, Donna shared that the group could benefit from more members. Jessica offered to help spread the word through social media, and both Donna and the group enthusiastically welcomed the idea. What happened next exceeded everyone's expectations. Interest grew rapidly, new faces joined every month, and the community quickly outgrew its original reach. With Donna's blessing, Jessica expanded the effort by creating a dedicated Facebook group, introducing a new name, and bringing fresh ideas and energy to connect fiber artists across Northeast Ohio. Today, Yarn Over Cleveland continues to grow and evolve. We host gatherings in multiple locations, welcome members of all skill levels, and collaborate with community partners who share our values. Through creativity, connection, and service, our mission remains simple: to spread joy, share knowledge, and make a positive impact one stitch at a time.
